If you are struggling with something in life, it can be difficult to ask for help or to make that first move of contacting a therapist to help you through your problems. There can be so many therapists out there and it can be mind boggling and sometimes even off-putting surfing through all the therapists out there to find the right one for you. There are so many disciplines and methods to choose from. But my approach to this is rather unpretentious, I use what works!

I am an integrative therapist, meaning I don’t stick to one method of working. I have a real passion for helping people and we are all so very unique and individual, so, for me, it would be wrong to use a ‘one size fits all’ aproach. Instead, I adapt my skills to the individual, utilising what works.

There is always a way to positive change, even if you think you are stuck this way for life. I hear this a lot, but the very reason you are reading this or seeking help signifies that you have a belief that you can change! You can evolve!

I am a fully trained, registered and accredited Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist based in the Warrington area of Cheshire. I work with all kinds of people from all walks of life and can help you achieve the change that you desire using powerful techniques of incorporating hypnotherapy and psychotherapeutic methods that have been scientifically proven to work. I introduced the Evolution Hypnotherapy way of change by selecting elements of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), NLP (Neuro linguistic programming), Hypnosis, ego state therapy and a few other elements, that I know to be efficient, to help you ‘evolve’ into the person you deserve to be!

I was trained by the NCHP (national college of hypnosis and psychotherapy), one of the longest standing schools in this country and has been around since the 1970’s. My training was at masters degree level and takes up to four years. I have also undergone many hours of continued personal development and continue to do so as part of my professional standards. I have obtained a certificate in Smoking Cessation, helping you quit smoking.

I am bound by a very strict code of ethics by my governing body and this helps keep me at the highest professional level.

I am a member of the NSHP (National Society of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy), Registered with the CNHC (The Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council). The CNHC is endorsed by the Department of Health. I am also fully insured. You can also find me on the ‘Hypnotherapy Directory‘.

I work with Children, Teens, adults and the elderly with a wide range of problems but mainly specialise in Anxiety Disorders, including Generalised anxiety, panic attacks, Depression, Fears and Phobias, Social Anxiety, Stammering or Stuttering, Agoraphobia, Eating Disorders, Shyness, Self-esteem issues, Confidence, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Separation Anxiety and Trauma. I have also dealt with many other symptoms and afflictions and have worked with issues of pain, irritable bowel syndrome, weight loss, Stop smoking Hypnosis, Public speaking, Sleep problems and some rarer cases that have been challenging but enlightening.

Prior to working as a hypno-psychotherapist, I worked with clients in the television and film industry. I drew on years of working closely with people and trouble shooting all sorts of problems, to help me forge a greater understanding of people and their needs. I enjoy life and love interacting with people. I also enjoy studying and I am always on the lookout for new breakthroughs in the mental health sector.

How do you choose the right therapist for you?

Firstly, you should have a check around to see who is practicing in your area. I would always recommend giving the therapist a call to have a chat with them to see how they sound and if they understand your problem and needs. I good reputable therapist will always answer all you questions and will never pressurise you into making an appointment. That should be your choice when the time is right.

Please, always check their memberships, training, registrations and accreditations!! All of my memberships etc are based in the UK. If they are registered and accredited, check their code of ethics. Mine can be found on a separate page.

Make sure they haven’t just trained in a week. You may be surprised to know that there are some people in the UK that have had a weeks training or less. Although, it can be common for a counsellor, psychotherapist or a Psychologist to learn some techniques of hypnosis to use in their practice. This is different because these therapists are already trained and accredited and their use of hypnosis will be limited, or of a adjunct to their own style of therapy.

Hypnotherapy is largely self monitored but hopefully, one day, it will be effectively regulated to protect the public from undertrained practitioners.

The other thing about choosing a therapist, is that you get on with them. The therapeutic alliance needs to be strong and it is the skill of the therapist to make you feel comfortable and understood. If you don’t click with the therapist, then you should think about switching. A good professional therapist will never be put out by a request like this, and they will normally suggest someone else you can go and see.

I think most people search and research anyway, seeking a therapist is a little like that as people often chew it over for a while, days, weeks, months or even years later they make the call. So, take your time and never feel pressured to book that first important session.
